Our Staff:
Jenny Stavisky, Founder
I started up the Vets in the Community clinic back in 2012, and it’s changed a lot since then, as each student committee has faced new challenges and made it better and better. Being at the ViC is one of my favourite things, and our clients are great. I teach primary care and shelter medicine at the vet school, and also have a research interest in shelters, infectious diseases and the relationships between people and their pets. Outside of work I enjoy walking my dogs, running and reading old detective novels.

Kerry Williams
I joined the university in January 2019, having worked in small animal practice for 18 years. I particularly enjoy surgery, and charity medicine. I am passionate about providing accessible, high quality veterinary care, and teaching students real life clinical skills - Vets in the Community combines these two things perfectly. I do seem to have habit of bringing rain to the clinics! Outside of work I will usually be found cycling, gardening, or baking. I have one very lazy cat, one very naughty cat, and 2 guinea pigs.

Helen Reed
After qualifying as a veterinary surgeon at Bristol University in 2000, I worked in mixed practice for 8 years, followed by 8 years in small animal practice. In January 2012 I began a part time role at Vet School as an associate teacher, facilitating clinical relevance sessions and personal and professional skills.
Having discovered my passion for teaching is as strong as my passion for veterinary science, in September 2016 I took on a full time role at Vet School as an associate teacher, and am involved in teaching clinical skills and final year clinical rotations, as well as being involved with Vets in the Community which I love! Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, going on epic hikes with my Saluki Buddy and I am also a Girl Guide leader.

Phill Hammond
My name is Phil Hammond and I qualified as Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2004, I worked in private practice covering 1st opinion and referral work and some Out of hour's emergency work. I had a short stint work as a transport officer for the ambulance service with a view to do paramedic training but eventually came back to the animals.
In 2010 I took up a position as a technician at the university of Nottingham vet school where I realised I had a passion for teaching and have since worked up to a position of teaching associate in clinical skills.
I wanted to still be part of some clinical work and Vet in the community allows me to do that whilst passing on my wisdom to the new students.

Chris Hawke
Hi my name is Chris. I was reminded recently I am the longest-serving person on the ViC team, and was involved in setting up ViC over a decade ago. My full time job is literally being on the streets assisting those in need – in my full-time job we deal with ViC clients and potential clients on a daily basis.
Working closely with the Vets, the student Committee especially the President and the student Outreach Officer I have the privilege of supporting with Outreach – in person on the streets.
I believe Outreach is a crucial part of ViC. I have confidence that students who partake in Outreach learn more, they develop a better understanding of the very harsh and cruel realities of life on the streets and why the work of everyone involved with ViC is so important in making a positive difference to those in need.
